Best Things To Do in New York City: A Slow Travel Guide

When Megan and I went to NYC for the first time in August 2024, I made this New York City Attractions Map to help us navigate the city—and we lived by it. The best part? You can save it to your Google Maps app, so when you’re out exploring, you’ll instantly see what spots are nearby. It takes so much of the stress out of planning (or decision fatigue from endless options) because sometimes, it’s just nice to have a place picked for you.

That said, fair warning—this map is kind of chaotic. When I made it, I figured only we would see it, so the descriptions are a little unhinged. But if you’re into that, you’ll probably love it. Save it, use it, and if it speaks to you, start adding your own favorite spots.

Below, you’ll find the New York City Attractions Map, and then I’ll highlight some of our favorite places. And if you’re looking for the packing and not the playing look here. This is our first of many maps per city, and we’re excited to grow this one and others (Seattle and London). Enjoy!
