Asheville, NC Itinerary: A Local-Inspired 2 Week Travel Diary

When we travel, we’re not chasing tourist checklists, we’re living like locals, looking for the good vibes and places that feel like home. This two-week Asheville, NC itinerary is full of slow mornings, vintage finds, river swims, and West Asheville hot spots that we loved. Whether you’re here for a weekend or a full 7-day stay, take what you like from our favorites (plus our Asheville Attractions Map) and let ChatGPT help you plan the rest.

We saved every spot – coffee shops, trails, vintage stores, restaurants + more on our google map below, so you can easily add it to your Google Maps and explore as you go.

Day 1 | West Asheville Finds & Local Goods

We got into town and our first stop and only stop for the day was West Village Market & Deli, a cozy, slightly crunchy grocery with grab-and-go wraps, bulk herbs, local made goods, and a killer drink cooler. We checked in on the kitties and unpacked ourselves before making dinner and drinking sake bombs.

Wondering how we stayed in Asheville for 2 weeks for free? Read this post.

Food + Drink We Grabbed:

  • Curry Chicken Salad Wrap – You can always catch us grabbing breakfast or lunch at the local grocery store!
  • Head of Broccoli – The luxury of traveling w/ THS is the full kitchen at the house! We brought pasta from home to make for dinner, so just needed to pick up some veg.
  • Bottle of Sake + Asahi Beer – After a 7 hour drive, we were ready for a sake bomb while unpacking and settling in!

Personal Goods We Grabbed:

  • Liquid Rock Roll-On Deodorant (Patchouli) – No residue on your baby tee and it actually works.
  • Colloidal Copper Face Cream – Locally made and felt luxe. Will be on the Copper face cream for now on!

Day 2 | Thrift Day + Little Treats

Started slow with coffee, then launched into a West Asheville thrifting day (!!)

  • West End Bakery – Bagels + coconut water = perfect thrift fuel. Casual, local, and delicious.
  • rEvolve Vintage – Amazing vintage selection. They also allow you to bring in clothes and trade for inshore credit. Love that!
  • Goodwill Bins – A thrifter’s paradise. Found a few treasures and paid less than $10. We went back here 4 times because it was just too good.

Later, we dropped by:

  • Forage + Flora – A literal jungle of plants, dreamy lighting, beautiful goods, coffee, and wine! A must-visit West Asheville gem!
  • Emote Vintage – Meg scored the cutest vintage jumper. You’ll see it in pics.

Ended the day with a chill evening at home and a Trader Joe’s grocery run—v essential for an affordable stay.

Day 3 | Summer Solstice Party Day

Spent most of the day filming and working, but the real highlight was the Summer Solstice Party at New Belgium Brewing for the release of their newest beer- High Priestess (yum sour beer). This place has one of the best riverfront patios near the River Arts District and always delivers a good time — a must stop for any Asheville, NC itinerary.

  • Vibes: DJ, local vendors, aura photos, palm readings, and tons of people-watching
  • Late night move: We hit up Hamburger Bar right down the road for Miller High Lifes before circling back to New Belgium to close our tab (lol)

Day 4 | Recovery Mode in West Asheville

After the solstice party, Day 4 was all about slowing down. We slept in and eventually made our way to Sunny Point Café and Rabbit Hole for brunch.

Real Talk:

If you’re choosing between the two, just go to Rabbit Hole. The wait at Sunny Point Cafe was long and the food took forever to come out, but the garden seating and peaceful vibes at Rabbit Hole made up for it. While we waited, we sipped on:

  • Cold brew – Maybe the best we’ve had in a year
  • Bloody Mary with bacon – Don’t skip the bacon
  • Crab Cake Benedict – Sunny Point Cafe

Day 5 | Vintage Walks & Ice Cream Downtown

Tried to grab tequila from a local bottle shop… only to learn NC doesn’t sell liquor on Sundays. Classic.
Plan B? We grabbed canned organic margaritas from West Side Market, mixed with sparkling water. 10/10 move.

We wandered around the local vintage vendors that were set up in West Asheville and chatted with David the watchmaker, who had some wild finds and good stories.
Dinner was a cozy night in — with pizza rolls — then we headed to Downtown Asheville for ice cream and people watching.

Day 6 | More Thrifting & Local Walks

Started the day with avocado toast, blueberries, and bananas at home. Then hit the Goodwill Bins (again)

We tried to swing by Flora and Forage, but forgot they close at 5. So Instead, we visited the nearby shops, took a long neighborhood walk with drinks, gassed up the car for our tomorrow adventures, and ended the night with:

  • Snacks and sandwiches from Ingles
  • A cozy work session in bed

Asheville doesn’t have to be all go-go-go. Days like this are what make it feel like home.

Day 7 | Hooker Falls Picnic & PizzaMind Bar Vibes

We packed a cooler and hit the road to Hooker Falls. It’s about an hour from West Asheville with beautiful views, short hikes, and river swims. Left a bit before 11, back by 2:30 – easy and so worth it. We used All Trails to stay up to date on the state of trails and accessibility since Hurricane Helene. We didn’t run into any problems, but things aren’t 100% back to normal (even more of a reason to visit Asheville and show support to the local businesses<3).

After a nap and kitty cuddles, we explored the River Arts District by car before walking to PizzaMind for dinner.

Must-Order at PizzaMind:

  • Miller High Life + Diet Coke (our signature combo)
  • Waffle fries – Surprisingly amazing, and get the ranch for dippin’
  • Arugula pizza – Fresh and so filling

We sat at the bar (our go-to), chatted with kind servers, and watched the documentary Calypte on the TVs.
Then went home, showered, folded laundry, and crashed hard. Such a good day <3

Day 8 | Work Session at Forage & Vinho Verde Magic

We posted up at Forage to work for most of the day and honestly… it’s one of the best working vibes we’ve ever experienced. It’s a plant shop, wine bar, and coffee shop all in one. How will I ever cafe any other way?!

  • Double espresso in the cutest cups
  • Dreamy interior, gorgeous lighting, and every detail styled perfectly

After our espresso high, we ordered a chilled bottle of Vinho Verde and enjoyed our bottle there before heading down the road to home.

It was honestly the best bottle of Vinho Verde we’ve had. Bonus points for Forage’s wine glasses.

The rest of the night was playful and lowkey—FaceTimed friends, played with kitty Fin outside, walked the neighborhood, and had dumplings for dinner.

Day 9 | Espresso Over Ice & Strawberry Rose Syrup

Liv got up early with Fin and Meg slept in. Once we were both up, we made our way (again) to Forage because we couldn’t resist.

This time we tried:

  • Meg: Double espresso over ice
  • Liv: Double espresso over ice with their homemade strawberry rose syrup

The barista nailed it.

We worked there on our laptops, and then headed home to take showers, tidy up, and plan our day of adventures for tomorrow.

Day 10 | Catawba Falls Adventure

We drove out to Catawba Falls and it was absolutely gorgeous. The highlights include:

  • A quick and scenic drive
  • Shady forest trails
  • Amazing cascading waterfall
  • River spots to swim in
  • A staircase climb to the overlook with 360 mountain views

We walked all the way (in our Archie flip flops), splashed around, took it all in slowly. Then – no surprise – headed back to Forage in the afternoon for a post-hike coffee and work session.

Day 11 | Art Museum & Dive Bar Dreamland

Started the day at the Asheville Museum of Art downtown. Loved the space, and it was a nice way to switch up our rhythm.

Later that night, we hit The Double Crown — our pick for best West Asheville dive bar.

  • Cheap drinks + snacks
  • Classic dive bar ambiance
  • Locals-only feel in the best way

It gets popping at night. Total gem and #1 choice in the Dive Bar section of our Asheville, NC itinerary. If you’re looking for laid-back Asheville hot spots, this is one of them (:

Day 12 | Burgers, Beers & a Parking Lot Sunset

Woke up slow (again) and did what any hungover human would do – headed to West End Market for snacks and hydration.
Later, we rallied and headed to Hail Mary, a high-vibe gay bar in West Asheville.

What we got:

  • Double smash burgers – absolutely divine
  • Pony beers – tiny, cold, and quick to sip
  • Diet Coke w/ Lime – It goes w/out saying
  • Fries? Mid. But honestly forgivable when the burger’s that good.

After dinner, we drove to a parking lot at UNC Asheville to watch the sunset. No crowds, just quiet and beautiful skies. Sometimes you don’t need a big view – just a peaceful, quiet one.

Day 13 | Wes Anderson & Record Store Wandering

We caught a showing of The Phoenician Scheme at the Fine Arts Theatre – Asheville. Easily a new favorite Wes Anderson film.

Post-movie, we stopped into Harvest Records to pick up Addison Rae’s new album. The store has such a chill energy, and we could’ve stayed flipping through vinyl for hours.

Headed home after that to start packing up and get the house in order.
